When he entered the Big Brother Australia house in summer 2020, Allan Liang immediately caused a stir as one of the most outspoken housemates the long-running series has ever had. Talking about himself in the third person and announcing to the fellow housemates that he was going to win, he became the contestant that Big Brother fans loved to hate. Ultimately, his time in the house was short, but he remains openly in pursuit of fame and keeps in touch with his new fanbase through social media platforms such as Instagram and Cameo.
Liang was born in 1989 and hails from Sydney in New South Wales. A high-performer in his corporate sales career, he applied to enter the 12th season of Big Brother Australia, which returned to Australian screens in 2020 after a six-year absence, being broadcast across the country on the major Seven Network. Liang was one of 20 hopeful housemates competing for the $250,000 prize money, but from the minute he walked into the house, it was clear that his confident, outgoing personality divided his fellow competitors. The show’s fans were equally split, with some calling him “the most infuriating housemate ever”. He had his fans, however, and recognised that every reality show needs its villain — and that it’s the villain who is often remembered long after the other contestants have been forgotten.
Laing was the second contestant to be voted out of the Big Brother house but he maintains a social media following in the tens of thousands, which suggests that he’s capable of making a big impact.
