Rising young star Amarr Wooten has been acting for most of his young life. He is currently best known for playing Warwick in hit American comedy series Knight Squad, Eyo in American Housewife, and Finch in Ayo and Maddie. Christmas movie lovers will also recognise him as one of the stars of the 2019 Netflix festive film Holiday Rush.
Wooten was born in Washington, D.C. in February 2001. He began acting aged just three years old, appearing in local productions and commercials. Aged six, he got his first movie break, appearing as Charlie in Step Up 2: The Streets, a dance film that became a box office hit, grossing over $150 million worldwide. A range of roles followed over the next few years, as Wooten appeared in pilots, TV series such as Criminal Minds and Instant Mom, and TV movies such as Splitting Adam and Fantasy Life. In 2016, he won his first recurring role, Finch in the fourth and final series of Disney Channel sitcom Liv and Maddie. The series was a particular success in South America, winning the Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite International Programme in Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina.
Wooten was then cast in his first adult sitcom, ABC’s American Housewife. He played Eyo in five episodes of the well-received second season, appearing alongside the likes of Katy Mixon and Julia Butters. In 2018, he won his first regular starring role in Nickelodeon’s The Knight Squad, a sitcom about knights being trained at a magical school. His character, Warwick, is known for being the worst knight in the school but, when it comes to it, can perform spells as well as anyone else.
