Italian luger Andrea Votter was named European Champion in 2019, and enjoyed a highly successful junior career before she joined the senior ranks.
Votter was a part of the Italian national team from a young age, taking part in competitions and representing her country throughout her youth. As well as competing in the Junior World Cup, she also qualified to take part in the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2012, showcasing her talent and proving herself to be one of the great prospects in the future of luging. The following year she competed in the World Junior Championships, this time walking away with the gold medal and paving the way for a great senior career. In the same year, Votter qualified for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, returning to the Games four years later to compete in South Korea. She has also enjoyed considerable World Championships success, having already appeared five times at the competition despite being just 24 years old. She has narrowly missed out on the podium four times, coming fourth in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Fans and fellow competitors have praised her determination and her focus on the track, returning time and time again to put in solid performances.
With recent gold medal wins at both the European Championships and the World Cup, Votter looks set to continue her great form for many years to come.
