Former treasurer of the Conservative Party and member of the House of Lords, Andrew Fraser is indisputably a very intelligent individual. He was educated at Eton and St John’s College, Oxford where he read Economics, Politics and Philosophy. Fraser has been appointed senior roles in various companies in the financial sector. Amongst these roles includes CEO of Baring Securities, as well as Chairman of Equity Partners Ltd, a Bangladeshi Investment Bank. He has also chaired a Korean company called Bridge Securities, and led as Director at Asia Frontier Capital, a fund management company. His involvement in international businesses has been more than advantageous and has deemed him a well-rounded member of our community.
Being exposed to many different financial cultures has certainly shaped Fraser and benefitted him greatly in the industry. He was honoured a Life Peer as part of David Cameron’s Resignation List of Honours and in 2016 he gained the respected title Baron Fraser of Corriegarth.
Fraser has been described by The Guardian as a “major donor” to the Conservative party and was the second largest ‘Better Together’ donor giving a staggering £200,000 for a “no” vote in the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum. His side won the referendum, deeming Fraser a crucial element in maintaining the union.
