Anton Carl Diderik Dahlberg, born on May 10, 1985, in Växjö, Sweden, began his sailing career at a young age in the Optimist dinghy class. He demonstrated early talent, placing 6th in both the 1999 and 2000 Optimist World Championships. His dedication was recognized in 2000 when he was awarded the Gedda Trophy for Swedish Junior Sailor of the Year by the Swedish Sailing Federation. Dahlberg continued his progression into the 470 class, making his Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he finished 15th with crew member Sebastian Östling. He continued this partnership for the 2012 London Olympics, securing a 10th-place finish.
Following the 2012 Olympics, Dahlberg formed a new partnership with Fredrik Bergström, a former 470 Junior World Champion. This collaboration marked a significant turning point in his career. The duo achieved a silver medal at the 2014 Trofeo Princesa Sofía and competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics, placing 6th. Their persistence led to a defining period from 2017 to 2021, where they earned a silver medal at the 2017 470 World Championships in Thessaloniki and consecutive European Championship titles in 2018 (Burgas) and 2019 (Sanremo). The pinnacle of this partnership was winning the 2021 470 World Championships in Vilamoura, followed by an Olympic silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2022, a new chapter began for Dahlberg as he teamed up with Lovisa Karlsson to compete in the mixed 470 event, aiming for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This new pairing quickly found success, winning the 2022 Semaine Olympique Française in Hyères and securing the 470 European Championships title in Çeşme, Turkey, in September 2022. They successfully defended their European title in Sanremo in May 2023. Their consistent performance culminated in an Olympic bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in Marseille. Throughout his career, Anton Dahlberg has been coached by Per Frykholm and Viktor Bergström, and actively represents the Royal Swedish Yacht Club. He is married to Danish sailor and coach Alberte Lindberg, with whom he has a child.
