Bobby Costanzo

Robert Jason Costanzo was born on October 20, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of actor Carmine Costanzo. He pursued his education at St. Francis Preparatory School and St. Francis College before embarking on a career in acting that has now spanned over four decades. From his early uncredited role as a New York Policeman in the 1975 film “Dog Day Afternoon” to playing a paint store customer in 1977’s “Saturday Night Fever,” Costanzo established himself as a versatile character actor, often portraying New York City archetypes on both sides of the law.

His career includes notable live-action film appearances in productions such as “Total Recall” (1990), where he played Agent Harry, “Die Hard 2” (1990) as Sergeant Vito Lorenzo, “Dick Tracy” (1990) as Lips’ Bodyguard, and “City Slickers” (1991) as Sal. Costanzo’s television work is equally extensive, with roles in popular series like “Lois & Clark,” “Friends,” “The Golden Girls,” and “Hannah Montana.” He also famously played Joey Tribbiani Sr. in “Friends” and its spin-off “Joey.” In addition to his screen roles, Costanzo served as Commissioner Stenchler in the 1992 Sega CD game “Sewer Shark.”

Beyond his live-action roles, Costanzo is a distinguished voice actor. He is widely recognized for voicing Detective Harvey Bullock in the DC Animated Universe, encompassing “Batman: The Animated Series” (1992-1995), “Superman: The Animated Series” (1997), “The New Batman Adventures” (1997-1998), and “Static Shock” (2003). His voice work for the character extended to animated films like “Batman: Mask of the Phantasm” (1993) and “Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman” (2003), as well as the video game “Batman: Arkham Origins” (2013). Costanzo also lent his voice to Philoctetes in Disney’s “Hercules” animated series (1998-1999) and the “Kingdom Hearts” video game series, often serving as a voice double for Danny DeVito. Other voice roles include characters in “The Fairly OddParents,” “The Zeta Project,” and “Mafia II,” where he voiced Joe Barbaro.
