Bokhee An, also known by her American name of Kathy C. An, is a professional scrub nurse come actress, who is best known for appearing in every single season of Grey’s Anatomy as an actual scrub nurse. Her comical and hilarious reactions to the main characters during her scenes has earned her a hugely loyal fan base, which is incredibly impressive seeing as she barely has any speaking lines.

An, a scrub nurse in real life, works with open heart surgeries on the regular in Los Angeles, and was assisting during a surgery that co-star Giacomo Gianniotti went to see in preparation for his role on the hit medical TV drama. Grey’s Anatomy fans have realised that her character in particular has been a silent part of the show all the way through from season one, the loyal scrub nurse who has appeared in many of the surgeries that have taken place in Seattle Grace Hospital, otherwise known as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The character Bohkee has assisted in the surgeries of most of the major surgeons in the hospital, Preston Burke and Richard Webber being prime examples. However, despite having very few lines, An has built a large fan base thanks to her expressive reactions during her scenes. While An has been in every season of Grey’s Anatomy, she has also appeared in other TV shows such as Six Feet Under in 2011 and in Grey’s spin-off Private Practice where she assisted the surgery on Erica Warner.
