Christopher Davis-Shannon is a multi-instrumentalist, educator and songwriter whose music is weaving together a sound enjoyed by people of all ages. Merging together influences from Chet Baker to Fats Waller, his music is the essence of honest simplicity and creates an electric atmosphere that transports the listening back to the speakeasies and jazz clubs of the early 20th century. The Philadelphia based musician tours regularly with his own music as well as playing as a sideman for various other acts, including Bill Haley, Jr., and the Comets and Joe Nugent. He has created numerous online ukulele tutorials, which have been viewed more than 775,000 times on YouTube. Nicknamed “The Tin Man”, Davis-Shannon also sells his own range of ukulele strings and is the author of The George Formby Handbook.
Davis-Shannon has played music for as long as he can remember, but never realised that picking up a ukulele would have such a huge impact on his life. At first the musician thought the uke wasn’t a serious instrument, but he then began to dig into the music of the 1920s and found inspiration from recording of players of that era.
Bringing not just the pure joy of music to the stage but also a remarkable and vast history of the history behind the songs he loves, his plaintive vocals and intricate instrumental work have earned David-Shannon fans around the world.
