Christopher Fogt has transitioned from a decorated Olympian and U.S. Army Major to the Head Coach of the USA Bobsled Team, bringing a unique blend of athletic excellence and structured leadership to the sport. After earning a silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games in the four-man event as part of Team Night Train, Christopher Fogt solidified his status as a leading figure in elite bobsledding. Fogt first began his bobsledding career in 2007, concurrent with his commitment to the U.S.
Fogt’s distinguished military career began in 2008 when he joined the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence branch. Following the 2010 Vancouver Games, he was deployed to Iraq for a year. He continued active duty after the 2014 Sochi Games, serving as Company Commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Company ‘Spartans,’ 3D Engineer Battalion, while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
After his 10th place finish in the two-man event at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, Fogt took a three-year break from the sport. He made a successful return in 2017, securing a spot on his third Olympic team for the PyeongChang 2018 Games, reaffirming his enduring competitive prowess and commitment to the sport. In June 2024, Christopher Fogt was appointed USA Bobsled Head Coach for the United States Bobsled/Skeleton Federation (USABS), succeeding Brian Shimer. In this pivotal role, Fogt is responsible for strategic planning for the program and serves as the primary contact for push athletes, drawing upon his extensive bobsled knowledge and leadership expertise honed during his distinguished military and athletic careers.
