Christopher Atkins is an actor, writer and music artist who was picked out of 4,000 for the role of Richard Lestrange – more than an impressive display of Atkins acting prowess, as he had never attempted acting before this career-defining lead role. The Blue Lagoon saw Atkins star alongside the captivating Brooke Shields, and Atkins was hailed for his sizzling portrayal in the teenage love affair, which saw him nab a Golden Globe nomination. Atkins then went on to star in The Pirate Movie – an Australian musical rom-com which featured the original song How Can I Live Without Her by Atkins that went on to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The actor was teaching sailing in New York when he got his role as Richard Lestrange, and now owns his own impressive outdoor sports company – Rocky River Outdoor Products. He has patented his own fishing lure, and remains an active participant in sport and nature. Atkins also devotes time to philanthropic causes, such as the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation for families of newborns with metabolic disorders, and the Mending Kids International charity, who provide life-changing surgical care to young children.
