A professional snowboarder from the United States, Danny Kass is a two-time Olympic silver medalist. The company Grenade Gloves, which specialises in snowboarding gloves, accessories, and other extreme sports clothing, was founded by Kass and his brother Matt Kass. Kass is also one of the stars of the Fuel TV series The Adventures of Danny and The Dingo.
Kass was raised in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and at the age of twelve started snowboarding there. He was raised on the slopes of what are now known as Hidden Valley and Mountain Creek ski areas, both of which are situated in the Highland Lakes and Vernon Township mountains. Kass enrolled at the Okemo Mountain School in Vermont after several years of shredding in the Mid-Atlantic States, so he could devote more of his time to riding some of the best pipe and park in the East.
With four US Open Championships, seven Winter X Games titles, and two Olympic silver medals, Kass has embarked on one of the most successful contest streaks in snowboarding since bursting on the scene in 2001. Kass persevered through a sluggish start in the US Grand Prix Circuit during the winter of 2006 to earn a spot in the Olympics in Torino for the second time. Like in 2002, Kass won a silver medal with back-to-back 1080s, in his characteristically easy manner.
