Danny Sprinkle is a talented former American college basketball player who transitioned into coaching with huge success, making a name for himself coaching top national teams. Sprinkle currently holds the position of head coach at his alma mater — Montana State University — and with his wealth of experience and passion for the game, he is leading his alma mater’s basketball program to new heights.
Sprinkle was first introduced to the sport at a young age, showing significant skill playing high school basketball at Helena High School in Montana, where he was a two-time all-state selection. Sprinkle went on to play college basketball at Montana State and graduated as the school’s seventh all-time leading scorer. He was also awarded conference freshman of the year in 1996 and earned all-league honors the following year. After his career playing on the court, Sprinkle pivoted to coaching in 2000 when he started assisting the head coach at Cal State Northridge. He then had stints as an assistant at Montana State and Cal State Fullerton before returning to Cal State Northridge full-time for five seasons.
Fast-forward to 2019 and Sprinkle was hired as the head coach at Montana State, succeeding Brian Fish. Sprinkle’s coaching career has been marked by a stellar record of achievements, including being part of Cal State Fullerton’s NCAA tournament squad in 2018. He takes great pride in coaching and connecting with others, winning Big Sky Coach of the Year in 2022 and gaining over ten thousand followers that same year – a testament to his charisma and skill on and off the court.
