The brilliant Darren Hammond is a professional Ballroom Dancer, who specialises in Latin American and freestyle. He is a World and British Open Latin American champion, a 12x South African freestyle solo champion, and 2x Supreme Dancer of the Year Champion of Champions. He is known as one of the Top 16 contestants on the 2010 second season of the SABC1 reality TV talent show So You Think You Can Dance.
Born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, Hammond started dancing from the age of five. He started training in Latin American and freestyle, and went on to be the 4x U-12 South African Latin American champion. He continued to compete at U-18 level, coming second in the U-18 Freestyle World Championships. He entered the South African TV reality talent show So You Think You Can Dance in 2010 being ranked in the Top 16. He then went on to partner with Kylie Brown, and the couple were placed third in the British Open U-21 American Championship at the Blackpool Dance Festival, and the following year they placed First. They then went on to win the WDC World U-21 Latin American Championships. He then partnered with Mila Lykke, and since 2015 has consistently made the Top 12 at all major dance festivals and championships.
Hammond regularly connects with his followers and fans through Instagram, posting pictures and videos of his life around dance.
