About

David Haugh was born on May 22, 1968, and grew up in North Judson, Indiana. His early life was marked by significant athletic and academic achievements; he was a four-year starter in football, basketball, and baseball at North Judson-San Pierre High School. In football, he set a state record for receptions with 147 receptions for 2,941 yards and also recorded 26 interceptions. His teams achieved a 40-7 record, including a state runner-up title in 1984 and a sectional championship in 1985. Academically, he ranked second in his high school class. Haugh continued his football career at Ball State University, where he was a three-year starter at safety, earning All-Mid-American Conference honors in 1989 and being named an Academic All-American. He graduated with a degree in Journalism from Ball State and later received his master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Haugh’s professional career in journalism began in 1993 at the South Bend Tribune, where he primarily covered Notre Dame football until 2003. In February 2003, he joined the Chicago Tribune, starting as a beat writer and later becoming a columnist for the Chicago Bears. By 2009, he ascended to the prestigious position of the Chicago Tribune’s 17th “In the Wake of the News” columnist. Over his 17 years at the Chicago Tribune, Haugh became a prominent voice in Chicago sports, covering various teams with a focus on the Chicago Bears. He was also a regular contributor on NBC Sports Chicago, appearing on “SportsTalk Live” after Bears games and later as a regular host of “Football Night in Chicago.” A major career turning point occurred in July 2018 when he replaced Brian Hanley as the co-host of “Mully & Hanley” on WSCR, 670 The Score, joining Mike Mulligan. The show was rebranded as “Mully & Haugh,” where he continues to serve as the morning drive time host, discussing current sports topics in Chicago.
