American actress Debra Messing is best known for her performance as actress Grace Adler on the widely loved and critically acclaimed television series Will & Grace, a role for which she received a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
Messing’s acting career began on the stage, in a pre-Broadway production of Angels in America: Perestroika that drew high critical praise. She made her way into television via small roles in Another World and NYPD: Blue, appearing in two feature films during this time. Gaining a lead role in the sitcom Ned & Stacey, Messing appeared in two episodes of Seinfeld before landing her most famous role in 1998. During her time as Grace, Messing made a move towards the silver screen, acting in live action features and working as a voice actress for several blockbuster hits.
After Will & Grace aired its final episode in 2006, Messing continued her stellar TV career with roles on USA’s The Starter Wife, NBC’s Smash, and a lead part in NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura. Messing has continued to find success across both television and cinema, bringing her talents to a 2017 remake of Dirty Dancing and 2018 thriller Searching. In 2017, Will and Grace delighted fans by returning to our screens with the original cast intact: the show has been renewed for it’s 10th and 11th seasons.
