DJ Chef, also known as Marc Weiss, began his career at a young age, displaying an early interest in both music and cooking. At 15, he started DJing house parties, and simultaneously took a job as a prep cook. This dual passion led him to enroll at the New York Restaurant School where he studied Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. After graduation, he trained under established chefs including Bobby Flay, Matthew Kenney, and John Tesar, working in fine kitchens throughout New York City. His culinary skills gained recognition from local media outlets such as News 12, Newsday, and The New York Times for his contributions to local restaurants and decadent desserts. He transitioned into catering private parties, which eventually led to the development of his unique entertainment concept.
His career took a definitive turn when he began working as a corporate chef for Sodexho-Marriott, managing food services for companies including Pfizer, McCann Erickson, and Cablevision. During this period, requests for his culinary services at private events grew. Recognizing the evolving landscape of entertainment driven by the Food Network, DJ Chef innovated by combining his culinary expertise with his DJing talents. This fusion created a new form of entertainment: a cooking party where he would DJ while preparing gourmet meals, earning him the moniker “DJ Chef – The Chef That Rocks.”
This unique approach propelled DJ Chef to international recognition. He has performed at celebrity events for individuals such as Christie Brinkley and James Blunt. His work has taken him to various locations globally, from the Hamptons to Dubai, for diverse events including corporate functions, private parties, and large-scale food festivals. He has been featured on major television networks, including Food Network, Bravo, MTV, FOX, and HGTV, and was crowned a champion on Food Network’s *Cutthroat Kitchen*. He continues to be an in-demand entertainer, known for transforming events into engaging experiences through the harmonious integration of food and music.
