He is the son of the legendary character actor Ed Begley.
Born in Los Angeles, and raised in New York, Begley later returned to California with his family and attended college in North Hollywood. With such a famous father, it wasn’t long before Begley Jr. wanted to try the acting profession for himself. And he proved to be a natural. He made his debut in an episode of the TV series My Three Sons in 1967, and since then has gone on to forge a remarkable career, starring and featuring in countless TV and film productions. They include Starsky and Hutch, M*A*S*H, Battlestar Galactica, Get Crazy, Meet the Applegates, Star Trek: Voyager, The West Wing, A Mighty Wind, Six Feet Under, Veronica Mars, CSI: Miami, Lady Dynamite, and Arrested Development. He also co-hosted, along with his second wife Rachelle Carson, the green living reality TV show, Living with Ed. Aside from acting, Begley has been an environmentalist since 1970. He has also written three books, Living Like Ed: A Guide to the Eco-Friendly Life (2008), Ed Begley Jr.’s Guide to Sustainable Living: Learning to Conserve Resources and Manage an Eco-Conscious Life (2009), and A Vegan Survival Guide for the Holidays (2014) with Jerry James Stone.
