Award-winning Gaia Weiss is a hugely talented French actress and model currently best known for roles such as Madame du Barry in the major international series, Marie-Antoinette, Marianne in the 2021 series, La Revolution, and Porunn in the Canadian history drama, Vikings. In 2020, she won numerous film festival awards for her role in the sci-fi movie, Meander. She is hugely popular on social media, with over 283,000 followers on Instagram.
Weiss was born in Paris in August 1991 into a French-Polish Jewish family. She had an artistic and international childhood; she began studying ballet aged three and acting aged seven. She also spent time in Paris, London, and Poland growing up and can speak all three languages as well as Hebrew. She studied at the prestigious Cours Florent drama school in Paris and the London Academy of Music and the Dramatic Arts and first began appearing in films in 2013, most notably in the (appropriately) multilingual Swiss film, Mary Queen of Scots. She continued to build her career in both English and French-language films and series with credits including The Legend of Hercules and Les Profs 2.
Weiss’ first major role was the recurring part of Porunn in the second and third seasons of Vikings, a historical drama series produced in Canada. She also appeared in two episodes of the highly regarded Italian series Medici. With a role in Marie-Antoinette, a fully female-written historical French-British drama series, Weiss continues to establish herself as a leading light of cutting-edge Anglo-French creativity.
