Gerardo Celasco was born on April 8, 1982, in Miami, Florida. He spent his early years in El Salvador, the home country of his parents. During his youth, Celasco was a competitive equestrian, representing El Salvador in international horse jumping competitions and the AASCA Central America Games. He also excelled in volleyball, participating in the Central America Games. After returning to the United States, he pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Celasco’s acting career began in 2005 with a lead role on NBC’s daytime series “Passions,” where he played Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald until 2007. His career progressed with notable appearances in both film and television. In film, he took on roles such as Carlos Peña in “Moneyball” (2011) and Ensign Chavez in “Battleship” (2012). On television, he has appeared in numerous series, including a recurring role as Dr. Nick Vega in CBS’s “Good Sam” (2022) and Detective Lopez in Netflix’s “Devil in Ohio” (2022), which was a #1 streaming show. He also had a memorable arc as Xavier Castillo in ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” (2019–2020).
More recently, Celasco has been featured as the male lead in “Swimming With Sharks” (2022) alongside Diane Kruger and Kiernan Shipka. He also made an impression as Officer Sánchez in Netflix’s “Pulse” and currently portrays DEA Agent Marcus Sánchez in “The Waterfront,” a Netflix production. His upcoming projects include the TV series “M.I.A.” (2025) and a role in “Pulse” (2025). Celasco is fluent in both Spanish and English, which has allowed him to take on a variety of roles.
