While it’s highly likely that almost every male competitor on the professional wrestling circuit fancies themselves as an “alpha male”, Iestyn Rees is the only fighter so far to claim it as his nickname, and deservingly so. With over 13 years of experience in the ring, Rees remains a firm fan favourite, appearing on ITV’s recently rebooted World of Sport primetime show.
The 6’4” Gloucester native has been wreaking havoc for a range of domestic and international wrestling promoters since first entering the ring, earning himself more titles than most: with no less than sixteen championship titles to his name across 4 Front, International Pro Wrestling UK, Preston City Wrestling, New Generation, World of Sport and others, Rees’ phenomenal physique and athleticism have placed him in the history books as one of the UK’s modern greats. Through his partnership with Kip Sabian as wrestling duo Alpha Bad, Rees continues to devastate even the fiercest opponents, favouring an all-time classic move, the Powerbomb, that often brings his fights to a sudden and catastrophic finish.
Despite Rees having secured more or less every title he could have hoped to during the first phase of his professional career, it appears there is still room for him to burst onto bigger and more prestigious stages in years to come. With a tryout for WWE in 2017, few would be surprised to see him delighting fans across all four continents as his career continues to develop.
