The fabulous and ultra cool Isaiah Washington is a superb actor, producer, and author best known for his roles in the hit medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy, and in the apocalyptic sci-fi show, The 100. Since discovering that he was genetically linked to the Mende and Temne peoples of Sierra Leone, he has become one of that African nation’s most visible supporters, and has been given the title of village chief and the name Gondobay Manga II. He has worked to bring wells, medical supplies and foreign investment to Sierra Leone, as well as starting a foundation to help build a school.
Washington was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and initially wanted to pursue American football as a career. He left school and joined the Air Force, but he also had a love for acting, and later attended Howard University to study Theater Arts. Upon graduating, he became an original member of the City Kids Repertory, a theatre company that performed in schools in an effort to bring relevant productions to high-risk children. He made his film debut in 1991’s Strictly Business, and in the same year made his TV debut in Law & Order. He has since gone on to star in countless film and TV productions, including NYPD Blue, Ally McBeal, Romeo Must Die, Soul Food, Exit Wounds, Bionic Woman, and P-Valley. He made his directorial debut in 2021 with the Western, Corsicana, for which he not only stars in, but also produced, and co-wrote.
Washington regularly connects with his legions of followers and fans through Instagram, and Twitter, posting pictures and videos of his life both on and off the screen. He is also available for that personalised shout-out via the Cameo platform.
