Jacob Bryant, who grew up on a three-mile gravel road in the rural North Georgia highlands, picked up his first guitar when he was eight years old. His family’s bluegrass music affected him, as did the southern rock and traditional country music he encountered later. Bryant began playing at church as he grew older, where he also served as the youth group’s leader. His desire in pursuing a career in music was sparked by his family and his religion. After graduating from high school, the singer/songwriter continued to develop his art and put his act on the road. But it was New Year’s Day 2010 that changed his life forever. He was travelling to Nashville when he received the news that his mother had died, and his entire life fell apart, sending him into a deep despair. It was eventually music that drew him back.
Bryant’s blue eyes and charming smile hide a past of hurt, addiction, divorce, and so much more, all of which fueled his songwriting and pushed him to record some of his most popular biographical anthems, including “Save My Soul,” “This Side of Sober,” “Pour Whiskey On My Grave,” “Best Part Of My Is You,” and “Sometimes I Pray.”
The Jasper, Georgia native plays with the assurance of a seasoned road dog, delivering a concert that blends traditional country music storytelling and heart with a hard-hitting Southern Rock touch of kick. Bryant describes his music as “Country music done my way.” In February of 2019, he released his first full-length album, Practice What I Preach, which debuted at number one on the iTunes country list.
