Jake Anthony is a classically-trained singer, musical director, life coach, teacher, and something of a podcast entrepreneur, having co-created and hosted the likes of 90 Gay Days, Sweet T: A Southern Charm Podcast, Rivermales and Bitchcraft. He can often be found podcasting with his comedy partner Matt Marr as Mattie & Poodle. The pair describe themselves as “Southern Belles” and “shady queens” who love talking about and trashing reality TV, especially when it involves someone looking for love. Their 90 Gay Days podcast takes a particular interest in TLC’s 90 Day Fiance and Netflix’s Love is Blind, and the hosts cast their comedic judgement on the lonely “hot messes” who go looking for love on television — don’t worry, it’s all done out of affection.
Anthony and Marr have been working together now for over a decade. Keen to give back and support worthwhile causes, they host CabarGAY: A Cabaret Benefit for LGBT Youth at the Reinberg Theatre in Hollywood and have found their niche as bitchy but lovable podcast hosts, covering a wide range of different subjects and even ending up with their own range of merchandise.
Anthony’s first venture into the world of broadcasting came in 2008 when he acted as composer and musical director for a couple of UCB Comedy Originals and a video short called Freak Dance Prank.IN 2014, he also turned his hand to acting, appearing in a comedy web series called The Fur is Gone, which was set backstage during a production of a play called Lend Me a Tenor.
