Australian field hockey player, Jamie Dwyer is best known for being named the world’s best hockey player five times. Dwyer was born in 1979 in Rockhampton, Queensland. When he was a kid, he began playing cricket. However, soon after that he began to play professional hockey. Dwyer is currently located in Perth, Western Australia where he plays for YMCC Coastal City Hockey Club. In the past, Dwyer used to play for Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. His journey began in Australia since Dwyer had debuted for it while he was a junior played in 1995, and again for the senior side in 2001. Dwyer is known for having played over 350 matches for Australia, in which he scored over 220 goals. In 2004, Dwyer represented Australia at the Summer Olympics, and he won a gold medal. In 2006, Dwyer represented Australia again, but this time at the Commonwealth Games, where he again one a gold medal. He then went back to represent the country in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, where Australia won bronze medals. In 2010, Dwyer once again represented Australia in the Commonwealth Games, winning another gold medal. Dwyer has also played professional hockey in Europe, in countries like the Netherlands, where the hockey season lasts for seven months. He in fact met his wife, with whom he now has two songs and a daughter.
