Janet Carbin is the embodiment of the phrase you can do it if you set your mind to it. She can be recognised for her time on the hit survival show Survivor: Island of the Idols where she broke all stereotypes about age, gender, and ability.
Janet was consistently the strongest contestant on the show, and although she didn’t win the series, she won over the hearts of her other survivors and viewers of the show. Her kind and caring nature – no matter how exhausted she was – shone through in all that she did. At the final five, she thought that she was poised to make it to the end as was the best at making fire. However, fellow contestant and competitor Dean Kowalski used an Idol Nullifier to cancel her out, leading Janet to be voted out for being too big of a threat to win. Since the show, Janet has used her social media following to spread kindness and discusses how failures are one step further to success. Janet has taken part in online virtual discussions, including that of charities that are close to her home of New Jersey.
Janet is the oldest woman to make the finale in Survivor history. Janet hopes to continue making waves and breaking stereotypes in the years to come.
