Janice Dickinson

Often referred to as the first ever supermodel, Janice Dickinson is an American model, businesswoman, actress and television personality. She one of the successful models of both the 70s and 80s and graced the covers of numerous magazines including Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Playboy and Marie Claire. She also opened her own agency which featured in the reality show The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency and was a judge on America’s Next Top Model from 2003 until 2006. She is also famous for appearing as a contestant on UK reality show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! finishing in second place. She is the author of three autobiographies, including bestseller No Lifeguard on Duty (2002).

Born in Brooklyn, Dickinson won the Miss High Fashion Model national competition in the early 1970s and moved to New York City to pursue her modelling career further. She was then discovered by Jacques Silberstein – a fashion photographer – and began modelling around the world. By the 1980s she had risen to the status of the world’s first supermodel, working with the biggest names in fashion including Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta. She appeared as the face of numerous ad campaigns including Christian Dior, Max Factor, Revlon and Balmain, and graced 37 international Vogue covers.

Dickinson made a successful transition into television when she appeared as a judge on America’s Next Top Model, offering contestants real advice on the trials and tribulations of the fashion industry. Her brutally honest opinions and her quick wit continue to make Dickinson one of television’s most entertaining personalities, and she was most recently seen in Season 24 of The Bachelor.
