Jasmin Savoy Brown

Jasmin Savoy Brown was born on March 21, 1994, in Alameda, California, and raised in Springfield, Oregon. Her performing career began at age four with a role in a church musical. This early experience fostered her interest in performance, leading her to participate in numerous musicals, choirs, and musical clubs throughout her youth, including those at the University of Oregon, Portland Shakespeare Project, Art’s Umbrella, Oregon Children’s Choir, and Upstart Crow Youth Theatre. Following high school, Brown relocated to Portland, Oregon, to actively pursue an acting career, building a foundation with dedicated training and consistent involvement in various theatrical productions.

Brown’s career progressed with early roles in television series such as NBC’s ‘Grimm’ and Freeform’s ‘The Fosters’. She gained significant recognition for her recurring role as Evangeline “Evie” Murphy in seasons two and three of HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ from 2015 to 2017. Her television credits expanded to include the TNT drama series ‘Will’ as Emilia Bassano and a co-starring role in Judd Apatow’s Netflix series ‘Love’. In 2018, Brown was cast as a lead in the Shonda Rhimes-produced ABC drama series ‘For The People’, playing Allison Adams, a role that further solidified her presence in network television.

More recently, Brown has become widely known for her roles in the ‘Scream’ franchise, portraying Mindy Meeks-Martin in the 2022 film ‘Scream’ and its 2023 sequel ‘Scream VI’, with plans to reprise the role in ‘Scream 7’. She also stars as Teen Taissa Turner in the Showtime thriller drama series ‘Yellowjackets’ (2021-present), a role that has received critical acclaim. Beyond live-action, Brown has contributed her voice and motion capture talents to video games, notably as Phin Mason / Tinkerer in ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ (2020) and Abby ‘Super Spesh’ Walker in ‘Wolfenstein: Youngblood’ (2019). Her work in independent films includes a lead role in the 2021 slasher film ‘Sound of Violence’ as Alexis Reeves, and a supporting role in the 2014 Sundance film ‘Laggies’.
