Irish stage, screen, and voice actor Jason O’Mara has built a transatlantic reputation thanks to his many varied roles. He has voiced Batman and Bruce Wayne in many DC Comics movies, played Detective Sam Tyler in the US version of Life on Mars and has appeared in major series such as Band of Brothers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Man in the High Castle, Vegas, and Sons of Liberty. His role in the 2016 film The Siege of Jadotville won him the Best Supporting Actor Award at the Irish Film & Television Awards.
O’Mara hails from the Dublin suburb of Sandycove. He studied Drama and Theatre at the city’s fabled Trinity College before relocating to London to develop his theatre career. He went on to perform with the world-famous Royal Shakespeare Company and appear in major productions on stages in both the English and Irish capital cities. His first major TV roles came in the late 1990s and early 2000s with British shows such as The Bill, Monarch of the Glen, and the period drama Berkeley Square. In 2001, he appeared in the Oscar-and-Golden-Globe-winning American series Band of Brothers, and from then on, he began to work increasingly in the States, taking roles in the likes of Vegas, Grey’s Anatomy, CSI, and many more.
O’Mara voiced Batman/Bruce Wayne for the first time in 2014, in Justice League: War. He has voiced the character ever since, most recently in Justice League: Apokolips War. In 2020, he took on another voice role, the title character in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Blood of Zeus.
