Bahamian second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. is a star of Major League Baseball. Chisholm signed a $200,000 deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks in July 2015 as an international free agent. He made his professional debut in 2016 with the Missoula Osprey and spent the season there, hitting .281 with nine home runs, 37 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases in 62 games. During the qualifiers for the 2017 World Baseball Classic, Chisholm played for the Great Britain national team. He played for the Kane County Cougars in 2017. Chisholm hit .248 in 29 games for Kane County and had a home run and 12 RBIs. He started the 2018 season with Kane County, but in July he was moved up to the Visalia Rawhide. Chisholm hit .272 with 25 home runs and 70 RBIs for both teams in 112 games. The Diamondbacks sent him to the Marlins in July 2019, in exchange for Zac Gallen.
After the 2019 season, the Marlins added Chisholm to their 40-man roster. In September 2020, Chisholm was moved up to the major leagues. He played for the first time against the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2021, Chisholm was the Marlins’ starting second baseman right out of spring training. He hit .248/.303/.425 and had 18 home runs, 53 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases that year. At 29.1 feet per second, Chisholm was the second baseman in the major leagues with the fastest sprint speed.
