Jeff Bridges is an award-winning American actor, producer and singer, born in 1949 in Los Angeles, California. He is from a famous acting family, his father being the actor Lloyd Bridges and his brother is Beau Bridges. He became involved in acting as a child touring with his father in stage productions. He first appeared on TV in the series ‘Sea Hunt’ along with his father. He moved to New York to study acting at the Herbert Berghof Studio and also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
Bridges secured his first major role in the 1971 film ‘The Last Picture Show’, winning an Academy Award nomination for his performance. He went on to star in many more successful films such as ‘King Kong’ (1976) with Jessica Lange, ‘The Fabulous Baker Boys’ working with brother Beau Bridges (1989), ‘Iron Man’ (2008) with Robert Downey Jr. and ‘The Fisher King’ (1991). He was Jeff ‘The Dude’ Lebowski in the 1998 popular classic ‘The Big Lebowski’. He was also in the 2003 film ‘Seabiscuit’ which became widely renowned.
Bridges won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2009 film ‘Crazy Heart’ playing Otis ‘Bad’ Blake. He was nominated for Academy Awards in ‘Thunderbolt and Lightfoot’ (1974) working with Clint Eastwood in ‘Starman’ (1984), ‘The Contender’ (2000), ‘True Grit’ (2010), and ‘Hell or High water’ (2016). In 2019 for his contribution to films he won the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Bridges married Susan Geston in 1977 they have 3 daughters.
