Jenny Nowak is a Nordic combined skier and ski jumper who competes internationally for Germany. Since 2018, she has been a member of the German Ski Association’s training group. With the help of the training group, she became the second German Junior World Champion in Nordic combined skiing in March, 2020.
At age six, Nowak began training in the art of ski jumping and cross-country skiing. After several years of training, in 2011, ski jumping Olympic medalist and GDR champion Henry Glaß was assigned to be her trainer. Today, Glaß is still watching over Nowak on the hill. With the help of Glaß and her training group, Nowak has achieved countless victories while representing her country.
So far, the highlight of Nowak’s career occurred in the winter of 2019/2020. After an initially mixed season in the Continental Cup that year, she was able to secure a bronze medal in January at the Winter Youth Olympic Games before proceeding to the Junior Ski World Cup in Oberwiesenthal. At the Junior Ski World Cup, Nowak took first place with a lead of 45 seconds and became the only DSV athlete to become Junior World Champion. After the competition, Nowak, who also acted as an ambassador for the home World Cup, received praise from Olympic champion Eric Frenzel for the impressive mental strength she showed in her performance.
