Best known for co-presenting long running motoring programme Top Gear for a staggering fifteen years; broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson is also celebrated for his journalism; writing a popular weekly column for both The Sunday Times and The Sun.
In 1988 Clarkson began presenting Top Gear which rapidly grew in popularity, subsequently being rebroadcast to over 100 countries globally; his sense of humour and quick wit turned the programme into BBC Two’s most watched TV show. His own company, Bedder 6 promoted the Top Gear brand, handled merchandise and international distribution, earning over a colossal £149m in 2012. Clarkson also had his very own talk show Clarkson which featured politicians, musicians and TV personalities, aired from 1998 to 2000. His diverse interests and malleable ability led him to present many documentaries; from history to engineering.
Widely appreciated and admired for his somewhat outspoken personality, Clarkson has appeared on many comedy shows, such as Room 101, Have I Got News for You as well as talk shows Friday Night with Jonathon Ross and Parkinson. In 2006, he received a nomination for Best Entertainment Performance and a year later he won the Special Recognition Award at the NTAs. The same year, he and co-presenter James May made history, being the first people to reach the North Magnetic Pole in a car.
Clarkson career continues to boom as a presenter and his serious yet comical persona earnt him a position hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
