Jesse Riedel, known online as Jesser, was born on March 27, 1999, in Westlake Village, California. His early interest in video creation began in elementary school, where he filmed skits alongside his brother, James, who also later became a YouTuber under the alias Jiedel. In 2013, during his middle school years, Jesser started creating videos based on video games like Minecraft and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, influenced by English YouTuber Syndicate.
Jesser gained early traction with his YouTube channel, initially known as JesserTheLazer, uploading his first viral video, “NBA 2K14 In Real Life,” during his freshman year at Westlake High School. This video, which discussed glitches in the NBA 2K series, marked a turning point in his online career. The continued success of his content led him to pursue online content creation full-time, eventually passing the California High School Proficiency Exam to focus on his work. In 2017, he established BucketSquad, a lifestyle brand and community focused on basketball culture and digital content. This initiative expanded into a merchandise line in 2018, offering apparel and accessories that resonated with his audience.
His career progression includes several notable milestones and partnerships. In 2018, Jesser became sponsored by Ballislife.com. The following year, in 2020, he collaborated with Champs Sports and Puma to release his own exclusive version of the Puma Clyde sneaker and associated apparel. He signed with the management company Night in 2023 and also participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in the same year. Further diversifying his brand, Jesser introduced the BucketSquad 1 sneaker in collaboration with SoleSavy and Garrixon Studios in 2023. In 2024, he contributed to an alternative broadcast on NBA League Pass, providing commentary. He was later selected as the representative for the fan vote for the Slam Dunk Contest in 2025.
