WWE superstar John Cena is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Famous for his catchphrase “You Can’t See Me”, he is also an entrepreneur, an actor, and a former rapper. He is a 16x WWE Championship winner, a 5x WWE United States Champion, 4x world tag team champion, 2x Royal Rumble winner, and a one-time Money in the bank Winner. He is best known to filmgoers as Peacemaker in the 2021 superhero movie The Suicide Squad.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Cena grew up with a love for sports. He was a talented American football throughout his High School years, and on through college. After graduating with a degree in exercise physiology and body movement in 1999, he moved to California to pursue a career in bodybuilding. He then switched to professional wresting and made his ring debut for the Ultimate Pro Wrestling. He signed with the WWF (now WWE) in 2001, and later gained fame and success after adopting the character of a trash-talking rapper. In 2005 he won the WWE Championship, and his character changed into a clean-cut and heroic one. He became a joint-record 16x world champion, and has won the WWE Championship 13 times, a record for the title.
Away from the ring, Cena also pursued a successful film career, and has featured in a number of films, including The Marine, 12 Rounds, Daddy’s Home opposite Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, in F9 playing Vin Diesel’s brother, and as Peacemaker in the superhero movie The Suicide Squad. As a musician, his debut, certified-platinum studio album, You Can’t See Me, was released in 2005. Outside of entertainment, Cena is known for his involvement in numerous charitable causes.
