About

John Targon was born in Chicago and later raised in Las Vegas. He moved to New York in 2002 to study at Parsons School of Design, where he earned a BBA. His career began as an intern at a luxury footwear start-up, where he demonstrated early entrepreneurial skills by increasing distribution from 0 to 30 stores within three months. This period provided him with early exposure to various aspects of running a new business. Following this, Prada recruited him to manage their men’s footwear business even before his graduation, marking a significant step in his fashion career.

Targon’s career progressed through several prominent luxury brands. He contributed to the double-digit growth of the men’s and women’s wholesale business at Givenchy. At Celine, he was responsible for a turnaround strategy that involved managing both wholesale and retail operations, including the closure and re-launch of all distribution channels and flagship boutiques. He also played a key role in the repositioning of Burberry, developing strategies and overseeing their men’s division, which was a $250 million business. These roles provided him with strong leadership experience and a comprehensive understanding of the luxury fashion market.

In October 2013, Targon co-founded Baja East with Scott Studenberg, establishing a globally inspired luxury brand known for its “loose luxury” concept and ambisexual dressing. Baja East blurred the lines between men’s and women’s fashion and developed collections that ranged from red-carpet-ready to off-duty wear. After his departure from Baja East and a short tenure at Marc Jacobs, Targon launched his personal brand, Fall Risk. This new venture, debuted in April 2019, focuses on luxe, 70s-inspired knitwear and 90s-esque tees. Fall Risk emphasizes sustainable practices, producing limited quantities of each item and incorporating unique customer interaction methods, such as phone orders directly with the design team. The brand also aligns with charitable initiatives, contributing a portion of profits to anti-gun and LGBTQ organizations.
