Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel is a young English footballer currently starring at right-back for Blackpool in the Championship. He joined the club permanently in August 2021 following a successful, season-long loan spell from his former club Nottingham Forest. Although he is yet to win any international caps, he was once called up to the Scotland U-16 squad, and senior international football is sure to become part of his career story before too long.
Lawrence-Gabriel was born in London in September 1998 and got on the road towards professional football when joined Arsenal as a schoolboy. In 2014, he moved to Southend United and joined their academy before moving to Nottingham Forest the following year. He turned professional with them in January 2016 and made his professional debut as a late substitute in a 2019 EFL Cup match against his first team, Arsenal. After a spell training with Port Vale, he went on loan to Scunthorpe United playing the second half of the 2019-2020 season with them. At the start of the 2020-2021 season, he played his first full match for Nottingham Forest in their game against Queens Park Ranger.
Two months into the season, he was loaned to Blackpool where he quickly made an impression, scoring his first professional goal in an FA Cup Second Round fixture against Harrogate. He made a total of 35 appearances for the Seasiders over the rest of the season and so it seemed natural that his loan spell should become permanent. Still young, he will continue to establish himself as Blackpool compete in one of football’s toughest leagues.
