Australian Rules Football player Jordon Sweet is steadily rising through the ranks of the sport. Versatile and competitive, Sweet has the capability to alternate between a key forward post and the ruck. After playing 17 matches in the VFL for The Western Bulldogs (previously known as Footscray Football Club ), Sweet is one to watch as he looks to make his mark at AFL level.
In 2018 Sweet’s campaign with SANFL premier North Adelaide impressed the Dogs, and the side picked up a then 20 year old Sweet in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft with pick No.23. Previously the 202cm ruckman had enjoyed a fantastic season with the Roosters resulting in him becoming a SANFL premiership player.
Sweet has said he’s not just making up the numbers at the dogs and he’s out to impress. Originally highly rated when he entered his draft year of 2016, he was left undrafted despite being added to the AFL Academy because he wasn’t focussed enough on his football at that time. Sweet himself has admitted he has matured greatly since then, changing his attitude and developing his game. An excellent runner who loves to throw his weight around, Sweet has now discovered how much he loves the game and is more than ready to push for opportunities at senior level. He signed a one year extension of his contract to remain at VU Whitten Oval until at least the end of 2020, and looks set to be a player to watch for the future.
