Jude Demorest is a highly accomplished actress and singer-songwriter. Onscreen, audiences recognize her for playing the title role in the #1 musical TV drama, Star. Behind the scenes, she’s had success writing hit pop songs, including “Work from Home” by Fifth Harmony, which surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.
As a promising young teen, Demorest left her roots in Detroit and moved to Los Angeles when she was just sixteen years old, so she could pursue a career in entertainment. In the beginning, she had gigs singing backup or dancing for artists until eventually, she signed a contract with Epic Records under the advisement of music producer, L.A. Reid. Venturing into acting, Demorest worked as an extra all across television and film before she landed the main role in the short film, History of Made Up Things. Shortly after, she nabbed her first major part in the TNT series, Dallas, recurring as Candace.
Meanwhile, Demorest exercised her songwriting talents. In addition to writing “Work from Home” for Fifth Harmony, she was also a co-writer behind their song, “Down.” Another girl group she worked with was Little Mix, writing their song “Bounce Back.” After writing for major girl groups like this, Demorest was a natural candidate for Lee Daniels’ nationwide casting call for the FOX girl group show, Star. Once Demorest got the role, she wrote countless songs for the show’s soundtrack, and even had the opportunity to act alongside high-profile actress, Queen Latifah.
Other notable show appearances include popular comedies like Disney’s Jonas and ABC’s The Middle, among others.
