Olympic gold medallist Justin Schoenefeld is a freestyle skier from the United States who specializes in performing aerial manoeuvres.
In December of 2014, Schoenefeld participated in the Nor-Am Cup and finished 12th and 10th. The event took place in Park City, Utah. During the 2015–2016 season, he had five finishes that were inside the top ten, with his best result being ninth place in the Aerials discipline rankings. Lake Placid was the location of his first victory in this series. He competed in the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco in 2017, and he ended up placing 15th there. With three victories throughout the 2017–18 season, he was able to secure the top spot in the Nor-Am Cup Aerials discipline standings.
In January of 2019, Schoenefeld competed in his first World Cup event in Lake Placid, where he ended up finishing 17th overall. After this, he had two more finishes in the top ten, and at the end of the season, he had moved up to the tenth place spot in the Aerials rankings. He started the 2019-20 season with a ninth-place finish at Deer Valley Resort and an 18th-place finish in Moscow. In Minsk, he won his first World Cup. After this, he finished in tenth place in the Aerials World Cup at the end of the season, which was followed by a fifth-place finish in Almaty. At the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in 2021, Schoenefeld participated in the men’s aerials competition. At the Winter Olympics in 2022, he competed in the mixed team aerials competition and ended up winning the gold medal.
