Multi-talented actress, singer and dancer Kara Lindsay is most famous for her stage roles including Glinda in hit musical Wicked on Broadway. She is also well known for originating the role of Katherine Plumber in Newsies and for the Broadway production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical in which she portrayed Cynthia Well.
A native New Yorker, Lindsay earned a BFA in Acting and Music Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied under acclaimed teacher and director Judith Ranaletta. The young actress got her first big break in the role of Laura in the musical-theatre production of Little House on the Prairie in 2009 starring alongside Melissa Gilbert, who played the role in the original television series. Two years later she rose to prominence further when she originated the role Katherine Plumber in Newsies, drawing inspiration for the part from Nelly Bly, the real-life investigative journalist. Lindsay continued her role when the show moved to Broadway and remained with the production until 2014.
Her next major role came in the smash hit musical Wicked, and her portrayal helped established Lindsay as one of the most in-demand musical theatre actresses in the US. She has since starred in Singing in the Rain and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical before returning to Wicked for the 2nd North American Tour in 2018-2019, and the versatile actress also appeared on television in American sitcom Murphy Brown.
