Katherine Nye is a widely renowned American who is best known for competing internationally in weight lifting. She was born Katherine Vibert on January 5th, 1999 in Oakland township Michigan. She has been weight lifting for four years starting with cross fit and winning a number of American records and titles then becoming the reigning junior and senior World Champion. Her club is Team Hercules and her coach is Josh Galloway.
Nye started competing in the 69 kg category until 2018 and moved swiftly into the 71kg in 2019 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganised the categories. She achieved a silver medal at the 2018 Junior World Weightlifting Championships and in the following year she competed in the 71 kg category in the Pan American Weightlifting Championships. She set records in the snatch and total and then won gold medals in three lifts. In 2019, Nye won the gold at the Junior World Weightlifting championship beating the silver medallist by a 34 kg total. At the 2019 World Weightlifting Championship, Nye set a junior world record with a 112 kg lift. She achieved a 136 kg clean and jerk to achieve gold medals in all lifts.
In 2019, owing to these achievements she was voted the IWF Lifter of the Year. Nye is hoping to compete for the USA in the Olympic games in Tokyo. It is said that she has been working to put on weight to move up into the 76 kg category.
