UFC and K1 veteran Kit Cope was born in 1977 at the Williams Air Force Base in Arizona. The family quickly relocated to Las Vegas, where Kit started kickboxing at an early age. During his career Kit has competed as a featherweight, lightweight and welterweight in both kickboxing and MMA. He is a four time professional Muay Thai World Champion and has fought in the K1, Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting.
The mixed martial artist fought in just one amateur kickboxing bout before turning pro. Regardless of his relative inexperience, he dominated the circuit with a 15-0 win record, including four world championships. In 2002 Kit made his explosive K1 debut, breaking his opponents, Heath Harris, femur in the opening round. His intense performance made all other fighters pay attention and stop in their tracks. In 2005 Kit made his UFC debut in The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale in his hometown of Las Vegas. Ten years after his K1 debut, he made his return to the promotion at the K1 World Grand Prix 2012 in LA.
Scattered throughout his fighting years, the kickboxer also established himself as a popular TV personality, appearing in shows such as True Life and Fear Factor and hosting spoof sports show the Wild World of Spike. In 2004 Kit was featured in a True Life segment entitled I’m a Muay Thai Fighter. The episode saw him journey to Thailand to face Burmese fighter Mojo Mawadee in a bare-knuckled lethwei match at the Songkran Festival, ending in a vicious knock-out by the American. Kit appeared in another True Life episode in 2008 this time entitled I’m a Mixed Martial Arts Fighter. Again he brutally defeated his opponent, this time Dave Cochran.
