KJ Apa is an actor, singer, and musician from New Zealand. From 2013 to 2015, he played Kane Jenkins in the New Zealand primetime soap opera Shortland Street, and in 2016 he starred in the television show The Cul de Sac. In 2017, Apa was cast in the lead role of the red-haired hero Archie Andrews in the CW’s cult dramedy series Riverdale based in the Archie Comics Universe. This launched Apa into worldwide fame. Apa won the Saturn Award for Breakthrough Performance for his leading role on Riverdale.
On the silver screen, Apa starred as teenage Ethan Montgomery in the 2017 comedy-drama film A Dog’s Purpose. It was followed by the 2018 drama The Hate U Give. Apa starred as Griffin in the 2019 Netflix film Last Summer. 2020 was a big year for Apa as he starred as singer Jeremy Camp in the biographical romantic drama film I Still Believe, as Niko in the action thriller film Dead Reckoning, as well as the critically acclaimed thriller film Songbird.
