Kye Sones is a British singer-songwriter who got his much-deserved big break when he made it through to the final ten of the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012 where he was mentored by Take That supremo Gary Barlow. Since then, far from fade into obscurity, Sones has become a platinum-selling songwriter and performer with over 150 million streams on Spotify to his name. He performs to sell-out crowds across Europe as the vocalist and MC for Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies. He has also written hits for the likes of Becky Hill, David Guetta, and KC Lights.
Sones was born in London in 1982. Falling in love with the music of Michael Jackson as a kid, he worked as a chimney sweep before getting his musical chops together with an electro-pop duo called Diagram of the Heart who signed with a major label and opened for the established likes of Calvin Harris. Unfortunately, the band didn’t break through to the big time and the album remains unreleased. At this point, Sones auditioned for the X Factor and won the mentorship of Gary Barlow as part of the Over 28s category. He made it through to the top 10 and eventually finished eighth, losing a sing-off to Rylan Clark (who eventually lost to that year’s winner, James Arthur).
In the decade since his X Factor journey, Sones has built a rock-solid career a world away from the fickle world of reality television. A respected songwriter with a nine-figure stream count, a huge audience across Europe, and an ever-growing discography of great pop songs.
