Kyle Farnsworth is a former baseball pitcher who enjoyed a 15-year MLB career with the likes of the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves. After retirement, he enjoyed a brief football career and currently works as a fitness coach. He is also the co-founder of Luck of the Draw, a company concerned with his other passion, animal hunting. He is also a strongly committed Christian.
Farnsworth hails from Wichita, Kansas. During his high-school years, he played various sports but began to focus on baseball whilst studying at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Georgia. His collegiate career and subsequent professional success saw him inducted into the college’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. In 1994, he graduated and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. He spent nearly a decade at the club, becoming known as a player who didn’t hide his emotions. He later joined the Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves before signing a multi-million-dollar contract with the New York Yankees. Three years later, he returned to the Braves before enjoying some of the best form of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
After winding his career down with short spells in the minor league and in Mexico, Farnsworth bowed out of baseball and took up another old passion, American football, joining the Orlando Phantoms in the Florida Football Alliance and even receiving the offer of a professional contract in Australia. Ultimately, however, he remained in America, coaching, hunting, and pulling no punches with his views on contemporary baseball on social media.
