Li Fabin is a widely renowned Chinese weightlifter, World Champion and two-times Asian Champion who competed in the 56kg category until 2018, when he began competing in 61kg category after the IWF reorganised the categories. Notably, Fabin competed at the 2018 World Championships in the 61kg category and won a silver medal in the snatch and in the total. In 2019, he competed in the Asian Weightlifting Championships in the 61kg category and won gold medals in all lifts, establishing himself as a key competitor on the international weightlifting stage.
Fabin has competed at many events all over the globe, including China, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Thailand and Kazakhstan. Fabin, alongside other competitive weightlifters, trained hard at the national training centre in Beijing, where trials were staged. Fabin was one of the weightlifters that matched or bettered world records in the 61kg category and is considered to be a leader in the weight category for the Olympic qualifying for Tokyo. At the event, Fabin impressed many by making a clean and jerk of 180kg, which is 6kg heavier than the world record holder, Eko Irawan of Indonesia.
