Madison Beer is an American singing sensation with a global reputation. Her career began as a teenager in New York uploading covers to her YouTube channel. When one of these was shared by Justin Bieber (then at the height of his fame), it began a journey that has seen her release a run of gold-selling singles, a critically-acclaimed EP, and a worldwide-charting debut album. She has also been open about her bisexuality and struggles with mental health, making her an inspiration to young people everywhere — just ask any of her 24 million Instagram fans!
It was Beer’s cover of the Etta James standard ‘At Last’ that caught Justin Bieber’s eye. He tweeted it to his millions of Beliebers, and before Beer knew it, she’d been signed by Bieber’s manager and record label — she was 13 years old at the time. She struck success with her fifth single, ‘Dead’, which was certified gold in the US and silver in the UK. It was the lead single from her debut EP, 2018’s As She Pleases, which hit the top ten of the US Indie Charts. Another single from the EP, ‘Home With You’ proved equally successful, going gold and charting in countries around the world. Her eagerly anticipated debut album, Life Support, was released in February 2021 and entered the US Billboard Charts at 65 as well as the UK Top 40.
Beer has also proved popular in television, appearing as a contestant on RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race and as a guest judge on Drag Race All-Stars. With more albums promised very soon, Beer is already one of the major names of the decade.
