Majandra Delfino is an American actress and singer-songwriter. On-screen, she is currently best known for playing Maria DeLuca, one of the leading characters in Roswell (known in the UK as Roswell High), and Andi Lutz in the CBS sitcom Friends with Better Lives. On disc, she has released an EP and one album, 2007’s Tarte. Her most recent projects include a starring role in the 2021 comedy film Later Days.
Delfino was born in Caracas, Venezuela, but moved first to Florida and then to Los Angeles as a teenager. Aged 16, she won her first major role, playing Tina DeMeo in The Tony Danza Show. Two years later, she was cast as one of the main characters in Roswell, a sci-fi drama series that ran for three seasons. Delfino was nominated for a Young Artist Award and an ALMA Award for her role. She also appeared in the CBS sitcom Katie Joplin and appeared in the 2000 box-office smash Traffic. In the years since, she has continued to appear in sitcoms, including Men of a Certain Age, Quarterlife, and State of Georgia. She has also had roles in films such as Life as We Know It and the all-female-produced Band Aid. She also appeared in an episode of The Office and voiced a character in Bojack Horseman.
Delfino sang in several episodes of Roswell, performing covers of other people’s songs. During the show’s run, she also began releasing original music online. This led to the release of her debut EP, The Sicks, which she released on her own label. She also self-released her first album, the well-received Tarte in 2007.
