In 2020, Grody and Patinkin partnered with Swing Left, creating viral videos with their sons to encourage people to vote for Joe Biden in the 2020 United States presidential election.

Mandel Bruce Patinkin was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 30, 1952. He began singing in synagogue choirs at a young age, developing a vocal talent that would later define his musical career. Patinkin attended the Juilliard School, where he became friends with Kelsey Grammer, whom he recommended for the role of Dr. Frasier Crane in “Cheers”. His early career included stage appearances and minor film roles, setting the foundation for a diverse acting portfolio.
Patinkin achieved widespread recognition for his stage work, including his Tony Award-winning role as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Evita” (1979) and his portrayal of Georges Seurat in Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George” (1984). In film, he is notably recognized as Inigo Montoya in “The Princess Bride” (1987). His television career has been marked by significant roles such as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger in “Chicago Hope” (1994–2000), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award, and Saul Berenson in “Homeland” (2011–2020), earning multiple Emmy nominations. Patinkin’s career demonstrates a consistent trajectory of acclaimed performances across various entertainment mediums.
Beyond acting, Patinkin is an accomplished recording artist with several albums, including “Mamaloshen” (1998), which earned a Deutscher Schallplattenpreis award.
