Manuel Gutierrez Jr., born on April 4, 1991, in San Diego, California, is professionally known as Manny MUA. He is an American make-up artist, YouTuber, entrepreneur, and beauty blogger. Gutierrez developed an interest in make-up during his childhood, observing his mother. Initially, he had aspirations of attending medical school to become a plastic surgeon and obtained a Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. He later pursued a different path, working at Sephora and MAC Cosmetics before establishing his YouTube channel in 2014. His YouTube channel features make-up tutorials, first impressions of products, and beauty tips, which have contributed to his online presence.

Gutierrez reached a significant career milestone in 2017 when he became the first male brand ambassador for Maybelline, specifically for their “Big Shot” mascara campaign. This achievement positioned him as a prominent figure in the beauty industry. In the same year, he was included in People magazine’s annual “Most Beautiful” list, being the only male featured. His influence was further recognized in 2018 when Forbes named him to their “30 under 30” list in the Arts and Style category.

In 2018, Gutierrez founded his own cosmetics company, Lunar Beauty, and launched its first product, the “Life’s a Drag” eye shadow palette, which included 14 shades. Lunar Beauty products have since been distributed through various retail channels, including Morphe stores and Sephora. He has also engaged in collaborations with other beauty brands, expanding his reach and product offerings within the cosmetics market. In 2021, Gutierrez participated in a virtual presidential town hall with Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci, discussing vaccine hesitancy.
